On the 5th Day of Christmas . . .
Next "Day"
She is a cleaning lady at a local Social Service Agency.

She used to clean at a local Motel, making pretty good money.

Then she was getting older and it was hard to do the work, so she retired on a very small income.

She was looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.  Boy, did that ever work out!

As she spent more time with them she learned about some abusive situations in their homes.  The State began to get involved.  She loved them and could not bear to think of them being in Foster Care while she was still alive.  So, she made the necessary arrangements for them to move in with her and for her to have full custody of them.

So, in essence, she is starting over again, late in life.

She was poor to begin with.

Now, with school clothes to buy, meals for three instead of meals for one, doctors and dentists visits typical of 2nd and 5th graders, etc., she found that she had to go back to work in order to provide for her little loved ones.

That's how we met her.  We take her to work and back five days a week.

This is a hard time of the year for folks like her.  They want to give to their children, but most of the money has already been spent on basic necessities.

That's why, day before yesterday, we were thrilled that she left this voice-mail message on the MUMs Phone.

In the Spirit of Christmas, we are passing it along to you.

I only wish you could hear the EXCITEMENT in her voice!!

(We have omitted names for the protection of her privacy)

You are an inspiration to all who know you!

Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop--thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown."
