Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday . . . .
They unhook her from the machines that do the job that her kidneys would do if they were working properly.
Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday . . .
Cane in hand, she slowly shuffles from the clinic, out to one of our 35 available Mums Mobiles*, and a MUMs driver takes her home.
She is almost stone deaf. There is little or no conversation during the ride. She hardly ever looks at you. She's probably embarrassed about not being able to hear.
But, then there is that moment when we get her home, and . . .
Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday . . . .
Her frail hand unlatches the door. She slowly works her way out of the seat until her feet touch the street pavement. Leaning on her cane, she laboriously completes a 180-degree turn, leans forward and looks you right in the eye. Just for an instant, an uplifted radiant countenance replaces her age-drawn features. Just for an instant, oversized bright white false teeth flash into a dazzling smile. Just for an instant, those old eyes sparkle, and . . .
Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday . . . .
. . . those weathered lips form the words that the wise and grateful has always spoken. . .
"Thank You!", she says!
Then, once again, her head drops. The smile is gone and the serious business of shuffling that old body from the street, along the walkway, and into the house has begun.
Yes ma'am, you're welcome! And,
We "Thank YOU"!!
In your world of pain and struggle, who can count the value of that smile?
What a treasure you are!! You may not know it, but . . . . .
Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday . . . .
You brighten our day!!!
We wish you a Merry Christmas, dear lady, and
We'll see you next year! . . . . . ,
Every Monday
Every Wednesday
Every Friday!!
*All the MUMs volunteers supply their own gas and drive their own vehicles. We have come to, affectionately, call each vehicle a "MumsMobile".

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." (Mark 12:42-44 NIV)
